Women's Services and Resources offers several support groups dealing with issues that are of concern to women. These groups are educational in nature and provide a safe place for women to discuss issues that are sensitive and private. Support Groups are intended to be a place of learning, openness, and encouragement where one can gain personal support. Through the group process, a person may learn how to deal with the issue of concern to them and how to give support to someone else struggling with the issue. This is not a therapy group; it is a place to talk and learn.
The current support group we run is the Fed Up with Food support group for women with eating disorders. The group is currently closed, but if you are interested in participating for the Fall 2011 semester, feel free to schedule an intake appointment with us to see if the group is right for you by calling 801.422.4877.
Students may schedule an appointment with Women's Services and Resources' professional staff. Our staff can help assess student needs and advise them concerning resources and options available to the student population at Brigham Young University. Students are welcome to visit with any of our professionals regarding matters of concern to them including body image, sexual assault, relationship problems,
Consultations are free to students, spouses of students, faculty, and staff. (You do not have to be currently taking classes to schedule an appointment.)
WSR offers many educational workshops and conferences throughout the year based on women's issues such as:
